To replace several old dense medium flotation systems, our customer was looking for a newer system on higher throughput. The system had to be capable of separating both an ASR (Automotive Shredder Residue) metal mix, but also the metal concentrate from IBA (Incinerator Bottom Ash).
The next-generation flotation system represents a breakthrough in material separation. It seamlessly integrates a sophisticated washing system with a multi-step sink-float process that leverages varying densities to effectively segregate different materials. This innovative system not only ensures efficient separation but also addresses environmental concerns by concentrating pollutants in a single sludge output, aligning with local water regulations. Given the notoriously dirty nature of IBA material, the inclusion of washing and water treatment processes is imperative. Our approach sets us apart, employing rinsing drums instead of screens to facilitate ongoing sieve cleaning during operation. This not only minimizes the need for frequent maintenance stops but also reduces the medium losses. Additionally, our double medium storage system offers unparalleled versatility, allowing customers to effortlessly switch between densities, accommodating diverse material mix requirements. Furthermore, our commitment to cutting-edge technology is evident through the incorporation of advanced automation and logging systems. We've also collaborated with the University of Leuven in Belgium to model the entire process flow, ensuring optimal efficiency and performance.
The culmination of these technical innovations empowers our customers to achieve exceptional results. With our system, they can separate heavies into clean plastics, aluminum, and a zorba mix, processing over 25 tonnes per hour, while achieving near-zero misplacement in all output streams.
